Get to Know Margaret
Margaret grew up going by her first name, Allison, but made the switch to her middle name when she started college. The change was inspired by a deeper understanding of her family history, Margaret is a name shared by her mother, Dianne, and her great-grandmother, Selma Margaret, the mother-in-law to her grandmother Dorthy. Though she never had the chance to build close relationships with her grandparents due to illness and loss, Margaret feels a special connection to Dorthy, a mother of four in Austin, TX, who sewed clothes for her family and passed that skill down to her daughter, and eventually to Margaret through Dianne. Her love for design is a legacy of craft passed down through generations of women. Adopting the name Margaret is both a tribute and a continuation of that lineage.

Women’s stories are the heart of Margaret’s creative inspiration. She looks not only to her own ancestry but also to the often overlooked narratives of women throughout history. The intersection of women, craft, and untold stories, especially through textiles, deeply influences her work. With each collection, Margaret seeks to honor and amplify those voices.
