Margaret grew up going by her first name, Allison, but made the switch to her middle name when she started college. The change was inspired by a deeper understanding of her family history, Margaret is a name shared by her mother, Dianne, and her great-grandmother, Selma Margaret, mother-in-law to Margarets grandmother Dorthy. Though she never had the chance to build close relationships with the people who came before her, Margaret feels a special connection to Dorthy, a mother of four in Austin, TX, who sewed clothes for her family and passed that skill down to her daughters, and eventually to Margaret through Dianne. Her love for design is a legacy of craft passed down through generations of women. Adopting the name Margaret is both a tribute and a continuation of that lineage.
